Youth Art Workshops
Our Youth Painting Workshop, led by Creative Director Colin Peters, offers an immersive 8-week program to elevate budding artists’ skills. Participants will explore advanced techniques such as colour mixing, composition, perspective, light, and shading—building a strong foundation to express their creativity confidently.

Higher Vibrations
Over two months, Colin Peters will mentor eight youth and adults from Bequia, guiding them in developing studio skills alongside visiting Vincentian guest producers. Participants will refine their creative writing, explore their vocal range, and record an original song. Higher Vibrations elevates The Hub’s Music Studio profile within the community and is proudly supported by Action Bequia.

Djembe Drumming Intensives
In September 2019, we proudly hosted a transformative four-week Djembe drumming workshop led by renowned Elder drummer and drum-maker Nzimbu Browne. The workshop trained 25 youth and 4 adults and sparked such enthusiasm that we began crafting our own instruments. Today, our Creative Arts Centre features 8 hand-made Djembe drums carved from coconut tree trunks—now a key part of our community programming.
We are eager to expand this powerful cultural initiative and are actively seeking donor support to sustain and grow it.

Maritime Workshops
Led by David Taylor, Pon De Reef reconnects youth with Bequia’s maritime heritage through hands-on training in snorkelling, traditional fishing methods, seamanship, and water safety—paired with coastal navigation and boating education. Participants also learn to set fish pots, spearfish, and explore the island’s marine ecosystem. Supported by Action Bequia, the course trained 15 youth aged 7–17 in its first offering.

Dance Workshops
Movement: Igniting Passion and Memory with Cherry Byron, is an intensive dance training workshop for youth engaging in movement, breath and expression while also learning about traditional Vincentian, Garifuna and Afro Caribbean dance traditions. The program will also train participants in tactical skills - teaching youth how to balance, use their core strength, and prevent injury. Over 20 Bequia youth applied to the program, through an audition program we accepted eight youth with the intention of having this becoming a regular activity offered 2-3 times a year, and was supported by Action Bequia.

Positive Vibes Festival
Positive Vibes Festival celebrates the best of Bequia’s culture and talent, bringing together local legends, emerging musicians and first-time performers, dancers, drummers and poets. The annual Festival since its inception in 2016, has been supported by community businesses and is the first of its kind to coach, nurture and present raw Bequia talent.

Bush Medicine Revival
Bush Medicine Revival uses medicinal yards and storytelling towards community healing and environmental stewardship via the recovery of Traditional Ecological Knowledge on Bequia.

Reversing Scarcities of the Mind and Spirit
Reversing Scarcities of the Mind and Spirit presents a toolkit of alternative healing processes that provide connection, healing and rehabilitation opportunities for families, youth, as well as SVG-based NGO relief workers and grassroots volunteers. The programming is facilitated by six regional wellness, mental health, and trauma therapy experts and supported by a global humanitarian organisation.

Creative Recovery Summer Camp
Our annual Creative Recovery Summer Camp hosts sessions each summer that offer Bequia youth a powerful way to integrate holistic development and knowledge building in a safe space. Our programming addresses social cohesion, grows communication and developmental skills, while highlighting the need for mentorship and leadership training. Youth learn about Bequia’s rich and diverse history, art-making, storytelling, drumming, dancing, poetry, the natural world and breath and body movement.
